Hangman's Chair were formed in Paris in 2005 and have since matured into an absolutely independent sounding band, offering an "urban", modern rock sound inspired by bands such as Type O Negative, Alice In Chains and Sisters of Mercy, among others, but thematically attached to the street, to the darker side of city life.

Lyrically, the band members punctuate their heavy, catchy head-nodding tracks with lyrics that relentlessly recount their personal experiences and adventures in the suburban darkness of Paris. Depression, drugs, loss, death, themes like these are found in their tracks, which HANGMAN'S CHAIR enrich with a relatable melancholy and beauty.

After five studio albums and a handful of splits and EPs, the sixth HANGMAN'S CHAIR album is now coming via Nuclear Blast Records. "A Loner" deals with loneliness in all its forms and offers all the trademarks that make the band's very own sound so outstanding and gripping.
