Triple bill of sci-fi action adventures directed by James Cameron. In 'Avatar' (2009) Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paraplegic war veteran, is selected to participate in the Avatar programme in which genetically-engineered human beings are sent to explore a small moon called Pandora. There, the indigenous Na'vi tribe live a peaceful existence in harmony with their plant-covered world, despite also possessing fearsome warrior skills.
When Jake meets Na'vi princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), he falls in love with her and becomes integrated into her clan, unaware that his mission on Pandora has a far more sinister aim than he realised. Before long, Jake is caught up in an epic battle that could decide the fate of an entire world. 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (2022) is set 12 years after the Na'vi defeated the humans invading Pandora and Jake and Neytiri are now living happily with their family.
When the humans return, determined to make Pandora their new home, Jake leads the fight against them but the family is soon forced to leave their tribe and seek sanctuary with the oceanic Metkayina clan. Finally, in 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' (2025) Jake, Neytiri and their children have settled into life with the Metkayina clan but are struggling to cope with their grief following the death of their son Neteyam (Jamie Flatters). When Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) allies himself with Varang (Oona Chaplin), the leader of the aggressive, volcano-dwelling Mangkwan clan, the battle for the future of Pandora intensifies with devastating consequences.
