The little-known baritone saxophonist Serge Chaloff, who possessed remarkable agility and lyricism, made his most important album with Blue Serge (1956), his second recording for Capitol. Together with pianist Sonny Clark, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Philly Joe Jones, the quartet plays a series of relaxed standards.
This mono vinyl edition of Tone Poet was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI and packaged in a luxurious tip-on sleeve.
