In March 2015, Sufjan Stevens released "Carrie & Lowell" - his most personal album to date. Presented with an unexpectedly clear vision, the album was a return to Sufjan's folk roots and was characterized by deliberate, sparse instrumentation. The album was an instant hit with critics, and in the years that followed, the music would weave itself inexorably into our culture.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release, Asthmatic Kitty Records announces "Carrie & Lowell (10th Anniversary Edition)", and releases "Mystery of Love (Demo)".

This deluxe edition includes an expanded double LP album with seven previously unreleased bonus tracks, a 40-page art book and a new essay by Sufjan. This edition also features an alternative cover: a framed version of the original Polaroids, zoomed out to reveal the caption "Carrie & Lowell" written in children's handwriting, revealing the origin of the album title (it was written by Sufjan's sister Djamilah).
The 40-page booklet, designed by Sufjan, contains various collages of old family photos from four generations, combined with artwork and drawings (on the themes of death, dying, mourning and the state of Oregon) as well as landscape photographs taken by Sufjan on a trip through the western USA over ten years ago.
