Shame have announced their return with the 2025 album "Cutthroat", which will be released in 2025 via Dead Oceans. At the same time, they've shared the exciting new video for the album's title track, directed by Ja Humby and featuring the band performing inside a motorcycle wall of death.
"'Cutthroat' is a wild ride. It's for the inexperienced rider. It's for the person who just wants to ride fast for no reason other than it's fun. It's driven by hunger. Hunger for something better. For something you've been told you don't deserve. It's instinctive It's raw. It's uncompromising. It's the person who shows up at the party unannounced. Because when you're down, there's only one way to go - up. If you've got nothing, you've got nothing to lose." - shame
"Cutthroat" is shame at its best. The new album with Grammy award winner John Congleton at the helm is relentless, pimped out and overloaded. It's exactly where you want shame to be. "It's about the cowards, the cunts, the hypocrites," says singer Charlie Steen and adds: "Let's be honest, there are a lot of them around at the moment." The five childhood friends - Charlie Steen, guitarists Sean Coyle-Smith and Eddie Green, bassist Josh Finerty and drummer Charlie Forbes - are still in their twenties and have allowed shame to grow exponentially, with ambitious sonic ideas and the technical means to realize them.
