"Danse Macabre" is a career-spanning box set by Celtic Frost, one of Switzerland's most innovative and experimental metal bands. It covers their output from "To Mega Therion" (1985) to "Monotheist" (2006) and traces an unpredictable course that saw them undergo radical stylistic changes from avant-garde extreme metal to thrash and doom metal.

The band always refused to do what was expected or required, constantly changing musical direction, always bringing in new influences and leaving people speculating where they would venture next. The catalog of her albums is impressive and unmatched. Each of them is not only unique, but a remarkable part of music history. Despite - or perhaps because of - constant turmoil on so many fronts, Celtic Frost reached a level of artistry that others could not even dream of. They climbed high because they were never afraid to fall. For this reason, the band is rightly considered an icon and an iconoclast today.
