One of the main themes of Anthony Powell's novel "A Dance to the Music of Time" is the contrast between those characters who are driven only by power and those who are more in tune with the sensual pleasures of life. Inevitably, time and fate catch up with each protagonist, and the reader is left to ponder whether or not their fate is justified. "The New Sound" often feels like a repetition of Powell's theme, accompanied by a quirky - and totally wired - Palm Court Orchestra. The album is certainly one that fully engages the listener throughout its eleven tracks.

Greep: "I was worried about the length so as not to give too much away. But I'm also fucking sick of listening to music and knowing in advance what it means or what it's trying to do. All my favorite music is about the listener engaging with what's going on. My favorite singers, like Peter Hammill or Nat King Cole, are literally one of a kind. I love that. Especially with lyrics where you don't know exactly what they're about, but you know they're not just abstract thoughts."
