Gorta [CD]

The six-piece band Madra Salach from Dublin has announced their debut album, *Gorta*, which will be released on Island Records.

Named after the Irish word for “hunger,” the album “Gorta” explores the theme of legacy: what we inherit from previous generations, what we leave behind, and the many forms hunger can take.

The album cover, designed by Oscar Torrans, encapsulates all of this in a single figure: a Blemmy, one of the “Akephaloi” from ancient legend—the headless ones whose faces were situated on their chests.

Produced by Loren Humphrey in New York—whose recent work includes Geese and Cameron Winter—“Gorta” moves between moments of sparse intimacy and powerful outbursts from the entire band.
