After Grachan Moncur III had attracted attention on Blue Mote recordings by Jackie McLean and Herbie Hancock, Alfred Lion produced two solo albums by the accomplished avant-garde trombonist for the label. On "Some Other Stuff", he can be heard with a particularly adventurous ensemble that included three musicians who played in Miles Davis' legendary second quintet at the time.
