Bernard Haitink's Mahler has always been one of the highlights of the Philips catalog, and this recording of the Symphony No. 5 and the Adagio from the Symphony No. 10 is from the analog cycle he recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This recording from 1970 was recorded quadraphonically at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and was praised by Gramophone for "the special clarity created by a well-balanced sound".
