OMD's 1984 hit album gets the same treatment as its two predecessors, Architecture and Morality and Dazzle Ships: it has been remastered from the original ½-inch reels and cut to half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.

Junk Culture is their fifth album, released on April 30, 1984. The album, which again used a cover designed by Peter Saville, was deliberately more melodic than its experimental predecessor (Dazzle Ships) and became a huge success, charting throughout Europe and reaching the Top 10 in the UK

The album was produced by the band and Brian Tench (with additional contributions from Tony Visconti). It was recorded at AIR Studios in Montserrat, which featured a newly acquired state-of-the-art Fairlight CMI sampler keyboard, and at Wisseloord in Hilversum, Netherlands, among other locations

As intended, Junk Culture brought OMD back into the upper regions of the singles charts, with 'Locomotion' (Top 5 in the UK and Top 10 across Europe), 'Talking Loud and Clear' (No. 11 in the UK, Top 5 in Belgium, the Netherlands and Ireland) and the club hit 'Tesla Girls' (No. 21 in the UK, No. 8 in the Netherlands). All three remain live favorites.
