After recording two early classics for Blue Note in the mid-1950s with "Afro-Cuban" and "'Round About Midnight at the Café Bohemia", trumpeter Kenny Dorham celebrated a brilliant comeback with the label in 1961 with "Whistle Stop". The album, recorded with a first-class hard bop quintet, contains seven originals from Dorham's pen that underline his astonishing diversity as a composer.
