John Carpenter has single-handedly defined the soundtrack of the horror genre with the 15 films he has directed and composed the soundtrack for. The film music alone succeeds in immediately creating the fans to immediately conjure up the menacing figure lying in wait for the babysitter, the fog filled with ghosts, the kung fu fighters with their lightning-fast fists or the mirror that serves as the gateway to hell.

The all-new music on "Lost Themes" requires Carpenter's followers to visualize their own nightmares. Carpenter stays true to his style: repetition is key to the igniting power of these tracks with energy swirls of shred chords, organs that soar to the heavens, unsettling piano tones and mesmerizing percussion. Horror fans will be reminded of Carpenter's past work as well as "Tubular Bells" as well as recognizing "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield and "Suspiria" by Goblin as references.

"They're little soundtracks to movies in our heads," Carpenter explains. "Now I hope that my album will inspire people to make the movies that this music goes with."

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Lost Themes", Sacred Bones are pleased to present an expanded edition of the album with new artwork by Greg Ruth. This special edition includes an additional 7-inch with two previously unreleased tracks from the original recording session - "Cruisin' With Mr. Scratch" and "Dominator".

On its initial release, "Lost Themes" was praised for its atmospheric soundscapes, ranging from horror to science fiction, with each track creating a distinct atmosphere without the need for a visual backdrop.
