Luc Ferrari's Presque Rien No. 1 and Société II are among the most radical avant-garde works of the 20th century. With Presque Rien No. 1, Ferrari pioneered the use of environmental recordings as complete musical material - he recorded the sounds of a Croatian fishing village at dawn village at dawn. Without manipulation, this marked a decisive shift towards sonic minimalism and influenced generations of experimental artists. In contrast, Société II, composed for piano, percussion and ensemble, embodies Ferrari's politically charged, theatrical side. Created in the midst of the social upheavals of the late 1960s, it stages a feminist allegory in which the performers vie for supremacy, combining structure, improvisation and satire combining structure, improvisation and satire.
