Christopher Hogwood’s groundbreaking recording of Handel’s *Messiah* with the Academy of Ancient Music is considered one of the best of all time.

This legendary recording project, regarded as one of the most significant events in the recording history of the late 20th century, is now being released in the “Decca Pure Analogue Series” in the highest audiophile sound quality, thereby marking the first time Decca’s early music label, L’Oiseau-Lyre, into this series for the first time.

This magnificent recording, remastered and edited by the renowned Emil Berliner Studios from the original stereo master tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA), is released on 180-gram Virgin vinyl and presented in a hand-numbered deluxe box set containing three LPs.

It includes the original cover art as well as a booklet featuring a detailed musical analysis by Christopher Hogwood and Handel scholar Anthony Hicks, along with a new essay by the esteemed music critic Richard Bratby (author of “Refiner’s Fire: The Academy of Ancient Music & the Historical Performance Revolution”) featuring interviews with, among others, Dame Emma Kirkby and sound engineer John Dunkerley.

This limited edition also includes additional photos from the recording sessions as well as facsimiles of the tape boxes.
