"Fudge" is Michael Kiwanuka's most free-spirited and instinctive album to date. A vibrant, deeply human work, marked by spontaneity, emotion, and creative joy. It’s laid-back, soulful, and full of magic—the kind of magic that only arises when the creative process leads the way.

The album was inspired by the encouraging words of the late Chick Corea, whose interview Michael stumbled upon by chance during the pandemic lockdown, in which Corea urged him to focus entirely on what he loved without worrying about what others might think: “You have to figure out what you find beautiful, and trust and believe in it”—a sentiment that had a lasting impact on the creative process.

The artwork, designed by Michael’s friend and creative partner Stevie Gee, is bursting with color and character. It’s a psychedelic, cartoon-inspired piece that perfectly reflects the warmth and magic of the album.
