On her eighth album "Nothing's About to Happen to Me", Mitski, musically supported by her band and an orchestra, tells a multi-layered, enigmatic story that centers on a woman who lives in seclusion in a neglected house. Outside her home, she is an outsider; inside her home, she is free.

Mitski wrote all the songs on "Nothing's About to Happen to Me". The album, produced and recorded by Patrick Hyland and mastered by Bob Weston, continues the musical line of "The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We" (2023). It was recorded live by Mitski's touring band The Land. The orchestral recordings, arranged by Drew Erickson, took place at Sunset Sound and TTG Studios, with Michael Harris handling the sound engineering.
