On their fifth studio album (and their fifth consecutive US gold award) Morrison Hotel, The Doors returned to their origins and were reborn as a rock'n'roll band. Completed in just a few weeks and released in February 1970, the hard-edged album took its title from the run-down hotel in downtown Los Angeles that also features on the iconic cover photo by Henry Diltz.
