Hooverphonic Presents Jackie Cane is the fourth album by the Belgian band Hooverphonic. It is a concept album that tells the story of the fictional singer Jackie Cane.
The story revolves around the fictional character Jackie Cane, who leaves her identical twin sister to become a professional singer. Driven to the brink of madness by the pressures of fame, Jackie leaves show business and returns home to reconcile with her sister. But still bitter because she has been in last place for years, her sister kills them both with a poisoned supper.
Jackie Cane retains the dreamy elements of Hooverphonic's earlier works, especially in the songs "Nirvana Blue" and "Human Interest" (which contains allusions to "Echoes" by Pink Floyd), but tracks like "The World Is Mine" (the first single) and "Day After Day" have a distinct Broadway influence and quality. The album went platinum in Belgium and was awarded Best Pop / Rock Band and Best Album by the ZAMU group in 2002.
