"Refuge Denied" (1987) is the first album by the thrash metal band Sanctuary from Seattle. Originally recorded by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, the band recorded two albums for Epic and unfortunately disbanded shortly afterwards. Mustaine gave himself the honor of producing "Refuge Denied", and with good success. The sonic recipe consists of excellent guitar riffing from guitarists Lenny Rutledge and Sean Blosl, accompanied by aggressive but melodic vocals from Warrel Dane and driving bass lines from Jim Sheppard. It even includes a cover version of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit". "Refuge Denied" would prove to be a stepping stone to the equally excellent follow-up Into The Mirror Black. Dane and Sheppard would later form the prog metal kings Nevermore.

"Refuge Denied" is available in a limited edition of 1000 numbered copies on blue vinyl and includes an insert with lyrics.
