Ritchie Blackmore's album "Rainbow" was commercially quite successful, reaching the top 30 in the US and almost the top 10 in the UK, with Ronnie James Dio describing it as his favorite Rainbow album. Apart from Dio, however, Blackmore was dissatisfied with the rest of the former Elf line-up and shortly afterwards parted company with all but Dio for the follow-up album "Rainbow Rising", released in 1976, and the subsequent international tours.
