Brinsley Schwarz were an English 70s pub rock band named after their guitarist Brinsley Schwarz, featuring Nick Lowe on bass and vocals, Ian Gomm on guitar and vocals, keyboardist Bob Andrews and drummer Billy Rankin. Their compelling live performances quickly gained the band a large following in London, along with bands like Eggs over Easy. In doing so, they sounded a bit like the British equivalent of The Band, with Schwarz's guitar work heavily influenced by Robbie Robertson. In 1972, they acted as Frankie Miller's band on his debut album, Once in a Blue Moon. They toured in support of Paul McCartney as well as Dave Edmunds, who also produced their 6th album in 1974.
