Saint-Saëns, as Mats Lidström notes, did not have the exclusive right to be inspired by swans, and this album presents 24 examples from a variety of composers written before and after the swan in Saint-Saëns' menagerie. Most are heard in arrangements for cello made especially for this album by Mats Kaner-Lidström, who is accompanied by his son Leif Kaner-Lidström.
