Funky, artlessly loud, loose and tight in perfect proportion, with pounding beats, churchy female backing vocals and two guitars snaking around Chris' raspy howl, it recalled everything from the Exile-era Stones to Nick Drake to the Allman Brothers. More than anything, though, it sounded like The Black Crowes. It entered the US Billboard album charts at No. 1.
