The Three Sounds’ charming, swinging lyrics helped the soul-jazz trio gain widespread popularity and made them one of Blue Note’s best-selling acts in the 1950s and 1960s. This is the Three Sounds’ final official album and, in the truest sense of the word, a soul symphony: a sensitive critique of urban life in the late 1960s, accompanied by gentle strings and rousing jams. Large Professor, on their album *Main Source*, sampled the song “Repeat after Me” for their track “Vamos a Rapiar.”
