Times Of Legend [LP]

British heavy metal band Venger, founded by SAXON guitarist Doug Scarratt and James Fogarty (of Old Forest, formerly of In The Woods), release their debut album "Times of Legend".

Written and produced by Scarratt and Fogarty, "Times of Legend" is a refreshing reminder that history, folklore and fantasy provide endlessly compelling entertainment.

"We're both movie fans," explains Scarratt, "so there are some historical elements on the album as well as classic horror films. I've always loved anything to do with fantasy and movies. We're surrounded by reality enough as it is. When it comes to entertainment, I just want to switch off!"

Scarratt's time with SAXON is well known, while Fogarty has been active in various projects and genres such as black and progressive metal, including the aforementioned bands In The Woods and Old Forest. Although Venger was only formed in 2024, when Scarratt's son gave his own concert in a bar in Brighton, UK, and Fogarty introduced himself, the two quickly discovered common musical interests. Their time together soon felt like a cozy afternoon with old friends at the local pub: a safe space with really nice people who share common interests such as metal, cinema and the art of storytelling.

In terms of musical work, Scarratt is a guitarist through and through, while Fogarty is more dedicated to melodies. Drummer Sven Rothe is also active in another of Fogarty's projects, and singer Franz Bauer, also a musician from Fogarty's circle, can be heard as a guest musician on the album.
