Since forming in 2013 in Metro Detroit, Michigan, metalcore/post-hardcore band I Prevail has achieved a slew of critical and commercial success. Their first album, 2016's "Lifelines," achieved gold status in both the U.S. and Canada, while 2019's "TRAUMA" repeated that feat in Canada.
The latter was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys that year, while the single "Bow Down" was also a contender for Best Metal Performance. With 2022's "TRUE POWER", the band continued to forge their own musical path, refusing to conform to the expectations of the genre.
Now, with their fourth album "Violent Nature", the band goes one step further. The album was recorded in two stages at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and was self-produced under the direction of bassist and keyboardist Jon Eberhard. It is also the first material in which vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe is the only singer in the band to take on both clean and non-clean vocals. It gets down to business.
The album's first single, the title track, is possibly the most brutal, extreme and wildest song the band has ever released. But not everything is so brutal and intense. Although the single "Rain" is anything but gentle, the song's powerful, anthemic chorus feels like a lullaby in comparison, even though the lyrics contain hints of the same rage and torment.
