The set includes a special, newly remastered stereo version of the nine-track studio portion of "Wheels Of Fire". The album, originally released in 1968 using CSG-edited recordings, is now presented in this remastered, CSG-freed version with corrected phasing, providing a more detailed reproduction and a clearer soundstage.
Also included are newly remastered mono and stereo versions of the studio album. These recordings come from the personal reference tapes of the late Cream producer Felix Pappalardi, have never been released before and contain many alternative mixes.
The collection includes remastered versions of the four live tracks recorded in March 1968 and originally released on LP2 of "Wheels Of Fire", as well as eight additional tracks played at the March 1968 concerts, including an unreleased live recording of "We're Going Wrong", recorded on March 10, 1968 at the Winterland Ballroom.
Also included is a newly compiled rarities collection of 15 rare recordings, nine of which are previously unreleased. This collection includes early versions, alternative mixes and single versions. Highlights include "White Room (Early Version Mono Mix)", "Deserted Cities Of The Heart (Mono Rough Mix / No Strings)" and "Crossroads (Mono Single Version)" as well as seven further alternative stereo and mono mixes, three single versions and two rare live recordings.
The set is rounded off by a hardcover book with accompanying texts by Jim Faber and photographs of Cream from the period. The five CDs come in a gatefold sleeve and are housed together with the book in a sturdy slipcase with silver lamination.
