After the career of tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon slumped in the mid-1950s, he celebrated a roaring comeback in the early 1960s with his recordings for Blue Note. Producer Michael Cuscuna compiled the album "Landslide" in 1980 from unreleased recordings made during three sessions with different bands in the years 1961-62. The title track "Landslide", for example, was a previously unreleased "leftover" from Gordon's celebrated second Blue Note album "Dexter Calling".
