Loveinamist, Marianne's second pop LP for Decca and last album of the 60s, has been remastered from the original tapes by Grammy-nominated Andrew Batt, who also contributes extensive sleevenotes to which Marianne contributed before her death in January 2025. Released in March 1967, Loveinamist was a mix of the earlier hit singles 'Yesterday' and 'This Little Bird' and the tracks released seven months earlier on the US album 'Faithfull Forever', as well as new recordings in the folk-pop style that was her signature sound.

The album features a number of stunning renditions by the songwriters who suited her best, including the string-heavy 'Counting' by Bob Lind, the stoic 'Reason To Believe' by Tim Hardin, the beautiful folk-pop ballad 'With You In Mind' by Jackie DeShannon and the baroque psychedelia of Donovan's 'In The Night Time'.

Donovan's words, music and ideas seemed particularly well suited to Marianne's interpretive gifts, and another of his compositions, 'Young Girl Blues', is powerfully interpreted, in stark contrast to the rest of the album with its folky romanticism. Loveinamist also reflects Marianne's fondness for French music, with beautiful versions of "Ne Me Quitte Pas" from the 1964 musical Les Parapluies De Cherbourg and "Coquillages," Marianne's own French translation of "Cockleshells," which originally appeared on North Country Maid.


Although it was almost a decade before she released another album, Loveinamist represented a new phase of creative achievement for Marianne and contains some of her strongest pop performances of the 60s.
