"Volunteers" is the fifth studio album by Jefferson Airplane. The album is a true sign of the times with politically charged lyrics dealing with the injustice of the Vietnam War. The album was considered quite controversial, but also much loved by critics such as Rolling Stone.
Technologically, the album was ahead of its time, as it was recorded on a state-of-the-art 16-track tape recorder, which gave the album its powerful, multi-layered sound. In terms of sound and history, this album still delights music fans even after 55 years and is therefore a true classic.
