Maestro Zubin Mehta celebrates his 90th birthday on April 29, 2026. As an exclusive artist with Decca for many years, he created a remarkable musical legacy in the 1960s and 1970s, bridging the gap between Central European tradition and American dynamism. His performances combined interpretative depth with thrilling energy and were captured in recordings renowned for their brilliance and tonal splendor. This anthology includes the complete symphony cycles of Schubert with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and of Schumann with the Vienna Philharmonic, as well as two outstanding cycles of Beethoven's piano concertos - with Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Vienna Philharmonic and with Radu Lupu and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Among the celebrated soloists represented are Lang Lang, Mischa Maisky, Shlomo Mintz, Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, Leontyne Price, Arthur Rubinstein, Joan Sutherland and János Starker. A discerning promoter of emerging talent, Mehta has also worked with David Garrett (in works by Bruch and Brahms) and Sayaka Shoji (in a program of Romantic virtuoso works). Live recordings include highlights from the 1982 Huberman Festival (with a dream cast of violinists - Ivry Gitlis, Ida Haendel, Shlomo Mintz, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern and Pinchas Zukerman) and a 1988 memorial concert in honor of Georg Solti (with Angela Gheorghiu and Anne Sofie von Otter).
