In March 1986, Pet Shop Boys presented Please, an instantly successful debut album that immediately reached number 3 in the UK and stayed in the UK Official Album Charts for a total of 82 weeks.

In the USA, it catapulted into the top 10 and was certified platinum. In Germany, it initially only reached the top 40, but the singles West End Girls and Suburbia catapulted to number 2 in the German singles charts.

Please has sold over three million copies to date. The original version of the album contained 10 songs, including the first single West End Girls, which went to No. 1 in the UK and the USA and went gold. in 1987, Please won the BRIT Award in the "Best Single" category and the Ivor Novello Award in the "Best International Hit" category.

A little later, in 2005 to be precise, the jury of the British Academy Of Composers and Songwriters presented the song with the Ivor Novello Award for "Song Of The Decade". Love Comes Quickly, Opportunity (Let's Make Lots Of Money) and Suburbia reached top 20 status in the UK singles charts on release.
